This review of literature and pilot study offer nursing educators insight into factors influencing teaching culture care in nursing programs. Findings are useful for nurse educators in university settings as they seek to prepare nursing students to provide meaningful, satisfying and beneficial care for people who are similar to and different from them resulting in nurses prepared to provide culturally congruent care in a multicultural world. Culturally diverse and similar students may be recruited and thrive in nursing programs where teaching culture care is embraced (McFarland et al 2006; Pacquiao 2007).
